TATTOO AFTERCARE

Tattoos heal differently on different people, some people will experience heavy scabbing, while others will get no scabbing whatsoever. As each person is different there is no one solution for every body regarding aftercare, and it may be a case of seeing what works best for you. Generally speaking however, your new Tattoo should be treated as a graze, using mild water based creams and moistorisers.

Once you have had your tattoo, wait at least an hour before removing the dressing and wash with mild soap and water. Apply cream such as Savlon cream 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days until the worst of the scabbing has gone, then use a water-based moisturising lotion for 2 weeks. We also sell an aftercare balm in the studio which works well for most people

Do not allow your Tattoo to soak in the bath or in a swimming pool until the scabbing has gone, as this will cause the scab to harden and crack which will affect the Tattoo's colour. Scabbing generally lasts around 10 days, but can take upto 4 weeks to go on more solid colouring. The scabbing MUST be allowed to fall off naturally, if you pick the scabs this can cause the colours to fade

Although after 3-6 weeks your new Tattoo will look healed, it can take several months until the skin has hardened. Sun bathing/Sunbeds during this period can cause your Tattoo to fade, as can general prolonged exposure to the sun. If you are out in the sun for a prolonged period, ie. just walking around, either keep your Tattoo covered by clothing or use a 30+ factor sunblock, this is very important during the first 12 weeks. During hot weather and sunbed use some people may experience a slight raisng and itchiness of some of the colour, this is nothing to worry about and will pass once the body has cooled.

Taking Multi Vitamins will also help the healing process.
[If using Vitamin Supplements make certain to follow the manufacturers dosage instructions.]
